‘Like everyone else, the team at Peter’s have family, friends and colleagues who have needed the care and support of Velindre cancer centre, the hospital of hope. Indeed we have several colleagues currently attending Velindre for treatment. For so many the treatment is successful, but for some it is not, and we have sadly lost cherished colleagues to this relentless disease. Each, is a deeply sad loss for their family at home and their “family at work”. This makes our commitment to this cause even more personal and profound.
As we approach the 10th anniversary of the Velindre Castle to Castle 11-Mile Run, I’m thrilled that Peter’s Pies is proudly sponsoring this incredible event once again.
Supporting our community is a core value at Peter’s Pies.This event is particularly special to us because it raises vital funds for Velindre’s cancer care, which has touched the lives of many in our colleagues.Also,we know that exercise and an active lifestyle is fundamental to good health, this event highlights the importance of exercise in our day to day lives and hopefully encourages people to start or progress their “active journey”.
Our support goes beyond financial sponsorship. At Peter’s Pies, we’re passionate about being active participants in events that make a real difference. We believe in the power of community and the impact we can achieve when we come together for a common cause. We will have colleagues run in this event as well as cycle and walk in the various Velindre challenges throughout the year. “Castle Dairies is the home of great tasting Welsh butter and is a family-run business based in the heart of Caerphilly. Our deliciously smooth and creamy butters are produced in our factory using cream from Wales and the rest of the UK and we have been churning since 1966. Our spreadable and block butters can be found in almost every major retailer.
For the fourth year in a row, Castle Dairies are proud to sponsor Velindre & the Castle 2 Castle run. Velindre is a charity very close to our hearts, as many of our team members either know someone who has been treated by Velindre, or has received treatment themselves like Ron, who has been working for Castle Dairies now for 45 years!
He said: “Staff at Velindre care so much for the old and the young and in my eyes, they are angels. I used to go there once a month for a regular check-up after having my chemo at home and they just can’t do enough to help. The day that I went there after my 20th chemo session feeling physically sick knowing my body couldn’t take anymore, I had to fight back tears when they told me that I didn’t need any more chemo. These individuals are so special and caring.”
