Rhod Gilbert’s Comedy Quiz Raises £9,600
Rhod Gilbert’s Tenby ‘Comedy Quiz’ hailed huge success as £9,600 is raised for Velindre.
Velindre Patron, Rhod Gilbert took time out of his UK stand-up tour, to entertain 340 guests at the De Valence, Tenby,’.
A sell-out crowd were in high spirits following Wales’ Grand Slam success and Rhod kept a smile on everyone’s face late into the night, as he hosted what can only be described as an alternative quiz.
The De Valence Trust and staff pulled out all the stops, in preparing for the event and the venue lends itself perfectly to such a large crowd.
Event organiser, Anthony Mattick, was very grateful to the De Valence Pavilion Trust; venue manager – Dave and all the staff, for working so hard on the lead up and during the night, with all fees being donated to the Velindre Hospital.
Thanks also go to second time event sponsors, Pembrokeshire Wealth Management of Saundersfoot – in particular Sara Hicks, who assisted greatly.
Anthony hoped that everyone in attendance had a good time and expressed his appreciation for coming along in support for such a worthwhile cause.
Many Thanks also goes to the businesses who kindly donated Prizes for the Raffle: The Harbwr Bar & Restaraunt, Molson Coors, The Silver Lily, Periwinkle, The Lounge, Dilys Gallery, Tesco, Dee Phillips, JF Editing, all of Saundersfoot.
Rhod has been a patron for the hospital since 2012 and during that time has helped raise in excess of 1.25 million pounds.
To date, Anthony has accompanied Rhod on two charity treks, 2017 to Machu Picchu and last month to the Helambu Valley, Nepal. These events alone, have raised threequarters-of-a-million pounds.
During the quiz, Andrew Morris, fund-raising manager for Velindre, gave a brief speech acknowledging the work that goes on at the hospital and the importance of holding such events as the quiz.
2020 sees Velindre ‘Trekking The Great Wall of China’ and anyone interested in joining Rhod and friends, should visit the hospital’s website for more details.
